This online course clearly explains the foundation principles of biomimetic dentistry that is mimic nature, conserve tooth structure, preserve tooth vitality, restore structural integrity and function of teeth.
The natural structural components of a tooth -Enamel, Dentin , DEJ are explained in detail based on histoanatomy, structural design , how all these structures interact to transmit the occlusal forces down the tooth under function and maintain the structural integrity of the normal tooth.
Next in this course, is about the materials to be used to replace the corresponding missing anatomic tooth structure, the use of correct techniques and biomimetic protocols for a given specific cavity configuration like MOD cavity, Endodontic access cavity, severely compromised Endodontically treated teeth, class 2 cavity and even simple class 1 cavity.
Maximising adhesion is the key concept in biomimetic dentistry. Dr.Nejad delineates the principles of adhesion, how bonded restoration can restore the natural stiffness and integrity of the tooth.Further, many protocols are discussed to maximise bond to tooth structure and how to avoid patients symptoms like post op sensitivity, micro leakage, secondary caries.
Then comes the most important part - Isolation and cementation protocols for Indirect biomimetic restorations. This lecture brings in more clarity as to which cement to be used for a given indirect restoration.
Overall,this Biomimetic dentistry course is based on scientific evidence and literature supported protocols as to what we do and how we do ,the practice of Biomimetic Dentistry.
I honestly want to share my review about this course to my fellow dentists, because this course really helped me find answers to many many questions that keep popping in my mind in day to day dentistry.
